2004 International
Reserves Conference
Homeland Defence and the
Reserves
March 25-27, 2004
The 2004 International Reserves
Conference was held in Calgary and hosted by the
Centre for
Military and Strategic Studies (CMSS) and was a tremendous
success. The Conference saw a high level participation by the land
reserve forces of the United States, Britain, Canada and Australia. It
was an introduction to the comparative study of the structure,
operating procedures, and composition of those forces and an overview
of the challenges faced by those forces today. The proceedings of
the conference will soon be available on the CMSS website located at
http://www.stratnet.ucalgary.ca/reserves2004/index.htm..
The March 2004 Conference delved deeply into the major issues arising
out of the question: “What is the best way to structure, train, and
deploy land force reserves for homeland defence?”
This
conference was made possible by the financial support of
the Land Force Reserves Restructure
of the Project Management Office of the
Canadian Army and the Canadian Defence & Foreign Affairs Institute
(CDFAI).
