 Prior to his retirement from the Canadian Foreign Service, George
Haynal was
Assistant Deputy Minister for the Americas in the Department of
Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Earlier DFAIT assignments
include Consul General in New York, Head of the Departmental
Policy Staff, Director General of Economic Policy and Deputy Permanent
Representative to the OECD in Paris. Other postings abroad include
London and Lima, Peru.
Mr.
Haynal has also served as First Officer of the Priorities and Planning
Secretariat in the Privy Council Office and on Executive Exchange,
as Acting Vice President (Corporate Banking) at the Head Office of the
Royal Bank of Canada in Toronto.
Adjunct Professor at the Norman Patterson School of International
Affairs at Carleton University, he is Alumnus Fellow of the Weatherhead Center
for International Affairs, Harvard University, as well as an
Associate Member and past President of the Professional Association of
Foreign Service Officers.
